What is gated vs open
- Open now: this site, the guide, and reading everything here.
- Off until you enable it: Hermes contacting you by phone, text, or message. It ships completely silent, no number set and every channel off, and stays that way until you turn it on in the dashboard yourself.
- Needs your OK: transferring the domain into your name, and any step that spends money or connects your accounts.
The path (four steps)

One Mac mini
Sixteen gigabytes of memory or more. Sign in as yourself, connect to your network, leave it on.

Move Hermes in
With the
hermes-keithfolder on the machine, open Terminal and run:bash ~/path/to/hermes-keith/deploy/install-mac.sh
One command. Installs the runtime if needed, copies Hermes, starts it on every reboot, prints your private dashboard link. Refuses to run if anything is set to contact anyone.

Put the fleet to work
Point agents at tasks in plain language. Free models run day and night for almost nothing. Premium models are a per-job choice, not a subscription trap.
